Water leak detection requires specialist equipment to detect exactly where the leak is and how severe it is. At Flow Free Drainage Ltd, we have highly skilled professionals that use non-destructive methods and the latest equipment that will be able to detect water leaks underground. Having a specialist detect a water leak will prevent future damage to your property and help you avoid high unnecessary costs.

Without specialist water leak detection technologies, it can be difficult to detect water leaks as there might not seem to be any sign on the surface of any damage. It might only be until you notice damage to the foundations where you begin to suspect a leak. Receiving a high water bill will also raise suspicions of a water leak; you might also receive a letter from the local water authority alerting you of a possible water leak.

Water leaks in buildings usually begin with some damage to pipes, joints, tanks and other parts in the water and drainage system. Over time pipes can start to crack or corrode, which leads to them leaking. Bad weather, in particular, freezing weather, can cause pipes to freeze and burst. As well as this, a lot of vibration from building works nearby can cause joints to disorientate, knocking them loose causing water to leak out.

Some warning signs that could suggest that you have a water leak are:

–   Water noises from around the property, such as a constant dripping sound or bubbling sounds.

–   Pooling of water outside your property that doesn’t disappear when the rest of the ground dries up after it’s stopped raining. Other changes in the ground are also essential to notice, such as sunken areas in your garden during dry weather, as this can be a sign of a water pipe leaking below.

–   Foul odours are a common sign of a water leak; mould and mildew can form in your property because of a water leak. Mould and mildew isn’t something you want to leave around for a while in your property as it can become a risk to your health.

–   Damp patches on the floor can be a big giveaway that a water leak is present, and you should take immediate action. If you leave damp areas after a long time, they can start to debilitate the foundations of your property.

If you’ve noticed any of these signs in your property, give us a call today; we’re more than happy to help. The longer a water leak goes without being detected, the more damage it can cause, which will be more expensive to resolve.
